Basic optimization
In order to make SmartQ's run faster, especially when booting, several simple actions can help you out. There are largely similar to what you can do on your regular OS (Windows, Linux distributions and Mac OS X). Source : JT's World.
- Clean your desktop
With too many icons to load on your desktop, you will definitely loose some precious booting seconds. To erase the icons from the desktop, proceed as follow :
Go to "My Documents" then "Desktop". Now chose and delete any desktop shortcut you don't need.
- Choose a simple theme
Elaborated themes sure look sweet but reveals themselves as real gluttons in terms of resources (who said Aero or compiz ?). Choosing a more traditional theme will relieve your SmartQ :
In the menu, select "Preferences" and then "Appearance". In the "window" tab, change to simple and apply.
- Select which programs to load on startup
A classic one : more programs to load when opening a session equals slower start-up.
Just go to /usr/share/autostart and erase any undesired applications.
